MDWASD Pump Station Improvement Program
Miami, Florida
In response to the first and second consent decree settlement agreements between the USEPA and Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department (MDWASD) established a program to study, plan, design, and construct remedial action plans to eliminate pumping station overflows; this was called the Pump Station Improvement Program (PSIP).
CES played a role in this program, serving as the planning, design, and engineering firm tasked with the following objectives:
Design and plan over 400 pump stations and 100 miles of force mains, including 12- to 30-inch diameter pipelines
Review Basis Design Reports, review of proposed pumping stations and force mains improvements
Perform design calculations for pumping stations and gravity sewer lines
Perform all permitting activities with all county and local municipalities in obtaining dry-run permits
Coordinate with Miami-Dade Water & Sewer Department and other agencies
Assist the Prime PM firm in meeting all EPA mandated milestones and deadlines
Coordinate with in-house and Miami-Dade Water & Sewer personnel
