Geotechnical & Materials
The soils upon which a project is built and the materials of which the project is made are essential to the success of the project.
CES has a state of the art materials testing laboratory located in Miami, FL. The laboratory is qualified by ACI, FDOT, CMEC, AWS, USACE, and Troxler laboratories. CES Laboratories presently holds contracts with Miami-Dade County, United States Army Corps of Engineers, and the City of Miami Gardens.
CES provides a wide range of quality services at competitive rates. We have an internal quality assurance program that is managed and Supervised by a professional engineer. CES provides testing and inspection services in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, CMEC, ACI and FDOT Standards.
The following are descriptions of the testing services that CES is currently offering.
Geotechnical and Soils Testing
Geotechnical investigation, engineering and laboratory testing is the critical first step to the design and construction of any project. CES currently uses drilling subcontractors and supervises their drilling and sampling activities in the field.
Subsurface soil, rock and ground water conditions must be identified and incorporated in the design of any project. The architectural, civil engineering and structural design above ground rely on the nature of what exists below ground.
CES has the experience to direct and supervise these field drilling and testing operations, and the qualifications to provide all necessary soil and materials testing in the field and laboratory.
CES services include subsurface explorations, geotechnical studies, analysis and preparation of reports for a broad array of projects nationwide.
CES geotechnical and soil testing services include:
- Subsurface explorations
- Geotechnical studies
- Site Assessment Geotechnical Engineering
- Soil and Rock Drilling and Sampling
- Geotechnical Laboratory Testing
- Civil Site Development Assessment
- Foundation Analysis and Design
- Earth Retaining Structure Design
- Construction Recommendations
CES performs proper laboratory testing and analysis of soils to determine their physical properties. This is an integral part of design and construction of structural foundations.
We are committed to provide the soil laboratory results to our client within the prescribed time limit in order to move on to the next phase of construction without any delay.
The following are a few examples of our soil testing services:
- Moisture-Density Relationship (Standard & Modified Proctor)
- Atterberg Limits
- Particle Size Analysis
- CBR and LBR Tests
- Density and Unit Weight by Sand Cone Method
- Density by Shallow Depth Nuclear Method
- Moisture Contents by Shallow Depth Nuclear Method
- Classification of Soils
Concrete, Aggregate & Masonry
Our ACI Certified Technicians and Inspectors service all phases of construction including steel placement and pour inspections.
CES’ concrete experience ranges from small pours to complicated building slabs and bridge decks. All concrete cylinders and cubes are cast and processed according to the ASTM and AASTO specifications. Our curing room is capable of holding more than 1000 cylinders.
The following are a few of our concrete, aggregate, and masonry testing services:
- Making and Curing Concrete Cylinders
- Slump and Air Content in the Field
- Strength Testing (Compressive and Flexural)
- Core Testing
- Rebound Number and Hardened Concrete
- Comprehensive Strength of Cement Mortars
- Sampling and Testing of Grout
- Organic Impurities
- Specific Gravity and Absorption in Fine and Coarse Aggregate
- Sieve Analysis of Aggregate
